I pay a visit to Six and things take a twist.
Chapter 7

That night, Six dropped off Vick, and then we switched positions in the car, and I took him home. Driving myself home, I held back all my thoughts and emotions. Emotions is what wizards draw upon to create magic. So for a wizard to let all kinds of emotions and thoughts flow up, when he's driving a car is unrecommended. I pulled in my driveway, and walked inside, going straight to my bedroom. I didn't even take off my Colts holster. When I hit the bed, the emotions came up. The death, the killing, the thrill, the joy of victory, and the sorrow for our losses. Although I did let these emotions rise to the surface in the protection of my warm blankets, they weren't enough to suppress my exhaustion, and I quickly fell asleep. I was extremely happy when my morning was peaceful. No knocking on my door, no sirens, no yelling, just calm. I slept in, enjoying the quiet while I had it. Then I get up and started my day off right with a five mile run. On my run this morning, I decided to take a different route than usual. I ran slightly into the country, and past a diner where a bunch of rednecks and bums were laughing and yelling. Another thing I saw was a wreck, this time on my way back. A blue sedan had rear ended a freaking Army Humvee and 3 soldiers were yelling at what looked to be two, scared detectives in trench coats. I got back to my house and took a shower. When I got out, I picked up my phone and saw I had one text from Six. It said "Intel confirms the cell we took out was directly responsive for that murder. We got em" I punched the air several times, and "Hooah!"d. Oh yeah! We hunted you down, and kill every last one of you! This is our city! Adrenaline rushed through me and I called Six. "Hello?" "Yeah man! Lets go out and celebrate or something!" I waited for a response, then asked, "Six?" He took another five seconds then replied "Oh right, I can't." "Why are you acting so... casual man? Mission accomplished! We did it!" His attitude didn't change. "I can't man, I have to spend the day with my little brothers. Family day." That probably gave me a stupid look on my face, thank god we were talking on the phone though. "I... didn't know you have brothers Six. Hell I didn't even know you had a Family." This however did draw a spark out of Six, because he laughed and replied "Even the Lexus have family Jake." I nodded, "I guess so.. Well good hunting man, I'll be in touch." "Yeah good hunting" and we hung up. The Lexus family was undead, with the magical cloak of living qualities, and they were very secretive about how their undeadness affected them in certain ways. One of the grey areas was the reproductive part. No pun intended.

So today, Sunday, was my day off. What to do, oh what to do. I could go hand out with Six? Yeah, I would probably end up hanging out with him. I could call Tyler too. He would probably bring T along, but I didn't mind the rookie. I got in my jeep and started it up with a roar of the engine. I pulled out of the drive way, and started down the highway towards Six's house. My bumper sticker said simply "That's right, I'm a Yankee" with a hand giving the middle finger. I rolled down my window and turned on the radio, switching through the stations. Crap. Crap. Ultra Crap. What is with all this hip hop crap? Why is everyone singing about shorties and blunts? I kept CD's in my car for when I needed actual music to listen to. I know, your asking yourself, 'What is a CD?'. Well kid, Google it. The way I looked at it, this new stuff they were coming out with was like fast food. It kept you mildly satisfied, but ultimately, wasn't good for you. Some of the musicians I kept on CD were Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Willy Nelson, Metallica, Ray Charles, Wood kid, Beach Boys, Toby Keith, and a few others. I grew up with an old school mentor. I put on my aviator sunglasses and popped in Elvis Presley and "Jail House Rock" came on. Even grown ups want to look cool. I finally pulled into a decent, Hispanic neighborhood that housed Six, and some of his friends. When I pulled into Six's drive way I could smell the tang of spicy foods cooking. I got out of my car, locking the doors and walked into their house without knocking. We were almost literally brothers, and had at one point or another, lived with each others family. I walked in and was instantly bombarded by smells of spices, and the smoke of greasey cooking. I smiled and yelled "Hola mi amigos! Como estas?!" Six's mother came rushing into the room, and started kissing my cheeks and hugging me, asking how I've been and how come I don't come around more. I responded politely and smiled, then walked into the other room. Six, and Tyler were sitting there, eating beans, soft tacos, and rice. I grinned at them, "Hola amigos, hows it goin?" They finished chewing and Tyler was the first to respond. "Hey buddy, I think I speak for everyone when I say, we are doing just great at the moment." Six nodded in agreement and took another bite of his taco. "Buddy... When did you start saying buddy?" I looked at Tyler and asked. Then I sat down with them and poured myself a cup of coffee. "So whats on the agenda for today?" Six finished chewing and replied, "I was going to head to the HQ and see what new developments they have on that warlock cell we eliminated." Tyler nodded and added "Yeah, I'll go with you." I threw my hands up slightly "So I'm being abandoned? Like a little puppy? Thats just great." The other two started laughing and almost choked on their food. Just then Six got a call. "Yes hello?" He smiled. "Hey Cherokee, whats going on?" Cherokee was our Intel person. She worked at the HQ and provided us with fresh intelligence. She was a good go-to person. They had a decent sized talk on the phone, then hung up after goodbyes. "Cherokee says that The Clan has got all kinds of threats coming in from anonymous cults, saying they are going to start an annual killing spree in revenge of our actions a couple nights ago. Some of the bureaucrats higher up tried to start a fuss, but I think our backs are covered." Six shook his head, "There's always some politician who still wants to kiss-" Six's mother cut him off quickly, yelling from another room "Ay Pedro, what did I tell you about swearing in the house of the lord huh? God lives here! Tu es loco nino!" Six turned around in his seat and "Mama you are the one that's crazy! You need to be in a nursing home! Or an intensive care unit or something!" he yelled back. How could one start off a proper day without a Hispanic, undead, family argument? I looked over at Tyler and he was starring off into space. He seemed kind of detached since I arrived. "Ty, you okay?" I asked. Tyler raised his head and looked at me. We locked eyes for a second. I grew even more worried when he reached into his jacket, for what seemed like chest pain. "Hey, are you alright?" Six was looking at him too. Then Tyler pulled out a .38 pistol. I knew instantly that Six and I were in trouble, because Tyler usually carried around a 9mm. He didn't wait to level it, he just pulled it out and once it was pointed towards me, pulled the trigger twice. Two bullets ripped through my body, I'm not really sure where. I couldn't think. So many things going through me. Emotions, thoughts, bullets. Actually the only pain I felt was betrayal that one of my best friends just shot me. I knew enough to know that this was only temporary. I would either be in a lot of pain, or dead before too long. I fell back, my head hitting the floor and my world started to spin. I caught a glimpse of Six instantly vaulting over the table towards Tyler. When three more shots rang out, Six fell to the side, mid-jump. The shots sounded farther away, and more faint. Probably due to the fact that I'd just been shot at a very close distance, or I was bleeding to death. I tried to get up, but it seemed like my hips weren't working. which is very bad news. Thoughts raced through me. 'Am I paralyzed? Oh crap... Why would Tyler do this though... after all we've been through.'I reached into my jacket and unclipped my .45, needing to use more effort than usual to get it out. By this time Tyler had got up and was standing beside me, the smoking .38 in hand. He loosely pointed it down at my face. I had the .45 out of the holster, but it was down by my side. There was no way I could get it up in time. Then a part of Tyler's shirt exploded with a small puff of smoke. He stepped back and looked down at it, in genuine surprise, his eyes wide. Another shot barked out and this time hit the wall beside him. I looked down past my feet at the hallway, where Six's sister stood. Her name was Angelica, and she was around my age. She held a Walther P99 handgun in her hand, the end faintly smoking. She was wearing a low cut dress that she looked good in and had her black, curly hair done in a fashionable bun-like thing. She looked terrified. I looked back up at Tyler and raised my .45 at him, but he didn't notice. He raised his .38 at Angelica, and I let it rip with 5 shots up into his stomach and ribs. He stumbled back quickly against the wall, blood pumping out of him and spattering on the wall behind him. As he fell back, he shot his last bullet into the floor. 'Asshole'. As he slumped down to the floor, he started changing, like he was still alive somehow. He started to twist and jerk. Then all of a sudden, Tyler wasn't slumped up against the wall, bloodied. It was a guy in his mid twenties with blonde medium, curly hair. I closed my eyes then mumbled "Oh.. good. But... shit.." My vision started to fade and my eyes didn't want to stay open. I tried to keep them from shutting but I wasn't doing very good. A figure rushed up to me and started to press a towel up against my gunshot wounds. I started to mumble incoherently. "Six.. Youg.. yog ancar... forcar..... it... Six" Give me a break alright, I was bleeding to death and it made sense to me. The voice that spoke to me was familiar and I knew it. "Yeah man, Six is fine." It was T. I swear, that guy was always around somewhere. I started to feel very tired and decided I didn't want to stay awake. 'Wait, didn't I need to stay awake for something? Something important? I don't remember... But I'm tired. Goodnight.' Everything went dark, and comfortable.
