A poem with plenty of personal meaning about escaping abuse and finding our own way |
-Over in Waves- by Keaton Foster Running through fields Over in waves So many abused children All escaping All ready to face life Upon their own terms Forced into adulthood Boys made men Girls made women Never again Will they be touched There is a point Where all victims Fight back There is a point Where all victims Find the strength to flee Escaping all they have ever known Never again Will what has been, be Freedom upon their feet Over in waves They set themselves free As well as embrace A new life Devoid of what it means To be abused in such terrible ways Where they are going Means nothing All that matters most Is that they are leaving Fleeing into the distance Devoid of the past Certainly for a time Their wounds will remain But even such grievous wounds Will heal Turning into scars That can be used to remind them Of where they have been And what has been done Never again will they be hurt Never again will they face What it means to be abused They are victims Turned into people That from this moment on Will live life under their own weight Over in waves They go Fleeing into the unknown Where are they going None dare know But one thing is for sure They won’t be coming back… Over In Waves Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
