About waiting for something that will never come

A pathetically sad creature
With no love to call her own
Patiently waits for the day to come
When love will smile on her and fate will agree
That she will finally meet her destiny
It’s all planned out…it’s all in the cards
He will save her from a life of solitude
And together they will reap life’s rewards*Dollar*
On his white horse they will ride
Into the sunset and happily they’ll live
No trouble to befall them
No penance to give

But wait she will, for he will never come
There is no white horse
Whose rider she will love
He cannot save her; she will have to save herself
The first being from fairytales
And in believing in someone else
She can find her own white horse,
Ride into the sunset and pave the way
For little girls to stand and say…
I am my own knight…I carry my own sword
I can fight my own battles
And reap my own rewards
If on the way a love I shall find
He can then hop on the back
Of this horse of mine
I'll hold the reins and he can carry the flag
Proclaiming independence
Is the best thing a woman can have
