I see him but I am helpless
I hear him yet I can’t speak
I feel him across the distance
He is losing the fight
He is weak
Emotionally unstable
His world is crashing down
The poison he consumes
Can’t lift him off the ground
His mind tells him its working
His eyes don’t say the same
His body is consumed with this need
All he wants is to escape the pain
I wish that I could help him
But he chooses to fight alone
His addiction has altered his state
He believes he’s in control
I wish that things were different
And that his battle he did win
Sometimes love isn’t enough
If it was I’d still have my friend
Today I find comfort in the memories
Even though the void still remains
I know that this is temporary
I will see him again someday
