Two young people find love under a starlit sky |
Starlit Sky We lay beneath the starlit sky, Alone we were, just you and I. Clouds obscured our view a bit, Through it all, your eyes were alit. Our love was full, shining very bright, Exactly like, the moon in the night. We imagined shapes, in the clouds, It was on this night, we made our vow. I was yours, as you were mine, We'd be together, til the end of time. We'd conquer all, never rueing the day So much to do in the games we played. I was your knight, you my dame, To share our lives, that was our aim. After all, we had the world in our hands, We thought we had the best laid plans. Suddenly a voice floated across the air, "Come inside kids, time to say your prayers." Our mothers kept close tabs on us two, Worrying of the trouble we'd get in to. We were on vacation at the ocean shore, At ten years of age, our spirits did soar. We loved the ocean, tides low or high, Confessed our love, under that starlit sky. Ten years later we were husband and wife, I knew with you, I'd spend the rest of my life. Now I sit alone, under the same starlit sky, Wondering how time has passed me by. Fate has been cruel, taken you from me, I spend my time alone by the sea. Remembering days past, the time we had, For all that's happened, I can't be mad. We had our time, has it really been that long? Fifty years together, our love was so strong. I await my time when I can join you again, And we'll be together, til time ends.
