Betrayal of the heart

Betrayal
The way you hurt me
left me breathless in pain
wondering what I ever did to make you hate me
that way.
Then I realized
it wasn't me.
It was you and your need for alcohol
it was you and your need to control
it was you and your failure
it was my pain for believing
it was my pain for hoping
it was my pain of disappointment.
It was my own heart's betrayal.
