Stream of conciousness a la Gertrude Stein.
Tainted is my view of love,
too many Disney movies.
Through rose-colored glasses
I watched you walk away.
You were tired of waiting
I was tired of wanting.
Only in love with the idea of love,
I told myself.
Too late I've realized.
I thought I was too fat,
Too ugly, too inexperienced,
too naive to love you.
He is a welcoming friend,
Loneliness.
I was addicted to the sadness,
The pity, the tragedy of it all.
Giddy, so giddy I was drunk,
with the thought
that someone could love me,
desire me.
No one ever looked at me like you had.
Now I miss your lingering gaze,
our easy friendship,
your hilarious laugh.
Too late I've realized.
