Let me
A man
Turned poet
This hypocrite
Once a heretic
Paint you a picture
An imaginary epicenter
Made astonishingly real
Each of my crafted words
Linked by brilliant connections
Painting masterpieces
Without a canvas or brushes
I want to take you
To higher places
Ones that don’t exist
Ones that must be created
Ones that when you see them
You will be irrevocably changed
It’s what I must do
It bothers me none
And concerns me less
Elevated planes of thought
Risen concepts of existence
Mountains of self-expression
Behind the folds of these eyes
Place your fear aside
Open your mind ever so wide
Be a receptacle to the power of words
That paint a beautiful picture
A facsimile of abundant truth
Wisdom was forced upon me in youth
I did not wish or ask for this
But I will be dammed
If I am gonna deny
That which God, high above
Has decided is the path of my plight
Maybe when my time comes
When all that I am is undone
Maybe then he will offer me peace
Maybe then he will kiss my head
And reassure me by whispering never again
Unsure is part of the drive of my cause
These words and so many others
Paint a picture, a masterpiece of sorts
They are all meant to take you to higher places
Even if at times they drag me deeper
Into the perilous recesses of my mind
My heart is stronger than it seems
My will forces me in ways unexplained
Come with me on a journey
Of both mind and skin
See what needs to be said
Via my expressions of all that is…
