A girl loses her friend and she talks to the friend's mother.
I listen to the women's story,
About how she lost her daughter.
Turns out drunk driving,
Caused the girls slaughter.

She claims it's okay to cry,
It shows how you care.
But my silent tears,
Aren't something I like to share.

The sudden guilt I feel,
Seems to consume me.
And I realize,
Just how horrible I must be.

I know it wasn't me,
But I still feel bad.
I know how she feels,
I am just as sad.

She was my friend too,
Her name was Hope.
And when she died,
No one helped me cope.

Now we're both broken,
Wishing it wasn't like this.
We lost Hope as quickly,
As a blow from a kiss.

But we can't stay in the past,
We have to move on.
And with this thought,
We formed a bond.

Now we walk away,
Remembering to say goodbye.
And I no longer feel guilt,
Even if I never did cry.
