I actually wrote this as a song but think it's better as a poem |
(I Wonder Why) She Cries At Night By Jordan Anna The moon is out, the light shines bright High in the midnight sky I see her there in the window And I wonder if she’s doing all right. She sits and stares and whispers To the rising moon, her fists tighten up And she shakes her head, makes me wonder Why she’s out of bed. Her lips move slow, and then quite fast She closes her eyes tight She heaves an unsteady breath, I wonder why she cries at night She stares up at the moon, holds her breath The tears roll down her cheeks. She tries to hold back with all her might But I wonder why she cries at night. No peaceful dreams, no love to hold She doesn't seem to know What’s right. She shudders and shakes, wipes the tears As they stream in little lines I don’t know if she’s lost love, Or holds a key of life I don’t know if she lies awake at night Or just stays in the moon light (or just stays in the moonlight) Is she in pain, does she not have peace Is her heartache because of life? That makes her sit and stare, fists pull at her hair What is causing all of her strife? She stares up at the moon, holds her breath The tears roll down her cheeks. She tires to hold back with all her might And I wonder why she cries at night She raises her head, stretches her back, Rises and shuts off the light. I see her shadow move, across the room And I wonder if she’ll sleep tonight. I wonder if there is peace tonight. |
