A long poem about the path that some people are on in life. |
-Take Control- by Keaton Foster Down that road Take control Steer to the left Drift to the right Slam on the brakes Put the pedal to the metal No one cares And if they did Such concerns matter none This is about living Same as it always been Same as it always will be Living through risk Two sides of the same coin The battle of every war Fight for what is yours Live as if you have Not a second more Refuse what you are certain Is abundantly clear Steer in your own direction Go where you have never had The guts to go There will always be a ditch On either side of the road To the very depths Of darkness they go Creatures and beings Live down there In the muck and mire Of all human existence But not you You still have a chance A path made quite clear Such clarity comes at a price A payment to be rendered Upon your mortal soul The path is straight There are no curves No obstacles Just endless miles of minutia No change of scenery Just more and more of the ordinary An ordinary that makes people like me Want to put a bullet in their heads But such a poem of ridiculous servitude Has nothing to do with others This alone is about you And the path that you are on The direction of your cause Where you are truly going And what is out there Beyond your vision Take control A pseudo oxymoron One you are accustom to To the other you are immune Taking is your namesake Control is your failsafe You believe that God has laid the path And that living is the distance Without question you move along Seeing more than the nothing shown Is not part of what you require Blind allegiance to an ideal Fuels your motor You are confident that you Will never run out of gas And that you will never crash Straight you will go No curves, unless you alone Decide to grab the wheel Unless you alone decide to Pull it hard in a direction Other than the one that God intends Only then will you take control Only then will you live Only then will you know… Take Control Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
