I've never been to Rotterdam
so I don't know
what the city's like,
but a bad day in any city
is a snarling traffic jam.

On a bad day in Rotterdam,
everything
and anything
is likely to go wrong;
the traffic signals go out,
you're stuck in rush hour traffic
and realize
your traveling companion's a lout.

On a bad day in Rotterdam,
or in any other city,
just take a deep slow breath
and give thanks
because it is statistically impossible
for everything to go wrong.
