A poem for review.
How dare you hold your head up high
while holding mine below.
I’m drowning in this “holy” water
you’re putting on a show.
You lift me now
and proclaim loud
that God has cleansed my soul.
So, why do I feel dirty
My insides still hollow?
I’ve been “reborn”
now I’m “saved”
your God will know my name.
Surely this has been a farce,
some silly child’s game.
“Halleluiah” sings the flock,
you send me on my way.
My purpose served,
the “Lord” was heard,
the tithing plate is on its way.
