A winter’s solace embraces sweet serenity…
smiling on soft petals who peak through the dwindling
remains of February snow ---they struggle
contending for their fragile existence
well aware only one nibble from Mr. Frost
will blacken the feeble pigments
instilled by crumbling wishes of spring
yet these pale blossoms, tenacious wildflowers--
spawned of mother nature’s uneven
temperament, cling to life…
feeding on hope as if water
faces upward –defiant, determined
to persevere.
