Last December

I saw you last on December 2, 2009.
You looked at me and gave me a huge smile.
I couldn't believe my eyes, it was you.
I cried and you hugged me tightly, I knew then that was the last time I'd see you.
I got a call July 9, 2012.
I dropped the phone and ran to our spot.
I cried for hours, not knowing what to do or think or what to believe.
I took out our pictures, you looked so happy.
I was on your shoulders, you're eyes gleaming looking up at me.
We were alike. You and me.
Momma always said so.
"I'll always be here, monkey" that's what you said.
