Boy tells you what it's like on his side of town.
My side of town
I pressed my aching head into the cool soft grass. A slight summer breeze offered consolation. That clear blue sky was all I wanted to look at for the rest of my life.
But things change in life that sky wasn’t always going to be blue. It will, on some days, turn up bright and sunny. Then on other days it will become dreary and cloudy. But it would never always be the same, I gave a low sigh.
It’s funny how you could be thinking how you are going to get home and the next minute wondering how you are going to get home alive.
My name is Krone, yeah I know, it's a stupid name, but it's my stupid name. My life wasn’t like a normal 12 year olds life should be. Every day I have to walk home from school or call a cab. Unfortunately I can’t walk home from school without getting a near death experience on the side.
I lived on the side of the town that no kid my age would go near unless they had to.
Right now life was definitely not going my way.
Me and my big mouth!

I ran into some gang members and ….. Well it didn’t go well. But for record they had it coming. If someone calls my family scum I get real protective, and I start doing really stupid things I shouldn’t do, then in end up running for my life.
Sounds fun right.
I knew they were gang members because they had the gang sign tattooed to their arms, but more on that later.
They looked pleased to see they had a new victim. I didn’t make eye contact and tried to walk fast. “Well look it here isn’t that Tony’s little brother” Said the one who looked the tallest and the biggest he had a scar coming across his mangled face and even if he didn't have it he would have still down right hideous.
“Sure looks like him. Hey, didn’t Tony quit the gang system long ago” asked a small scrawny guy who looked like he hadn’t had a full meal in months.
“Yeah the worthless piece of scum wouldn’t know a good opportunity if it slapped him in the face. But I do that’s why I’m standing here taking his place,” snarled the bigger one.
At that I couldn’t hold my burning anger. So I did the most idiotic thing possible. I lunged. My arms wrapped around his waist as we both crashed on to the concrete. So shocked by my actions I was able to get one furious punch to the nose then I took off running.
A booming voice snapped behind me “What are you gaping at, get him!”
I rounded a sharp corner and climbed the chain linked fence. I got up and over just in time. The gang came crash and yelling around the corner. I glanced behind me as they started to climb the fence I saw the guy I punched and there was blood dribbling down his chin, I had split his lip.
“I’m so dead” I thought.
I took another sharp turn then jumping another fence but, this time it wasn't chain linked fence and into someone’s backyard. Hopefully they wouldn’t realize I was there because I was ready to pass out. I held my breath as I hear footsteps and yelling on the other side. Then they died away.
I was safe…for now.
