So close but yet so far

So close and yet so far away
Always reaching
But never feeling

The apparitions they point the way
Haunting from within us, to possess
Us with what we desire
To which we would salute “Sire”

And yet with adolescent disdain
Turn to scream our song
So loud ,so sure, so long
Till it all its shouts are in vain

Subject to fear
Subject to vanity
Subject to regret
To which we will not let go
