October challenge day 3 |
Beginning – June 1982 Micah awakes from a dream, one so real he can still feel the pain and burn from the bullets. He knows something’s not right with him: He can “feel” another presence/soul/consciousness inside of him/his mind Middle – June and July 1982 He said three words to Antoinette as her prom was ending: I love you. These words he did not speak the first time, and he regretted it. Things did change that night, for the better. They became closer and happier. Micah’s been writing, his “dream” has caused him to create a short story, a private investigator messed up in a case of robbery and a legend over 300 years old. His journalism teacher has helped him, researched the names of the people involved. She met with Van Rossum, a man whose family has been looking for the painting ever since it was stolen in the 1920s, before they could steal it themselves. End – August and November 1982 Micah confronted Van Rossum, the “other” speaking for them both. Yes, he knows where the painting is. No, he won’t divulge the location. A gun is drawn, but Micah is resolute. A shot rang out. Antoinette sat in a café’s corner booth, as was her studying ritual; an open Calculus textbook in front of her, a half-finished mug of coffee beside it. Her roommate dropped a magazine onto the book. Antoinette opened to the page her roommate told her. She gasped, the story written by Micah. Before she could ask, the roommate answered, “He told me.” “Hi beautiful,” Micah said. |
