A tragic story of Brothers in Arms.
With bullets flying by their exposed bodies and heavy shrapnel falling from the sky, Jeremy and Donald were running across the muddy field, one step away from being blown to pieces by a mine. Their enemies had overrun their camp and they were now retreating back to the foxholes. Jeremy jumped down into the trench, yelling to Donald, “Hurry, hurry!” Donald fell to the ground, realizing he had been shot, but not knowing his helmet had saved his life.

“I’ve been shot!” Donald screamed at the top of his lungs.

“Where?” Jeremy loudly asked with a worried voice. He then saw the dent in Donald’s helmet and dragged him to the trench, “You’re fine! Your helmet took the hit, but we got to move now. Lets head for the wood line.” They ran to the woods, away from the battle, feeling slightly safer.

“We have to go back, some of our squadron is still alive.” Donald whispered.

“No. I didn’t tell you earlier, I knew you would panic, but I’ve been shot.” Jeremy said with a gasped voice. Donald opened the buttons of Jeremy’s shirt, seeing a gaping hole in his chest. “I don’t think I can go much longer.” Jeremy said hopelessly

Donald’s eyes began to water, his face shriveled up, and a lump grew in his throat. “No, no, not now, after everything we’ve been through.”

Jeremy’s face was now white as snow, his eyes slowly closed and he took his last breathe.

Donald then heard a noise. What is that behind the tree, he thought to himself. “Whose there?”

A blonde little girl came from behind the tree. “Candice, go away, we’re playing army men” Jeremy said with a whiny voice.
