When a girl named Emma starts to work as a maid, she meets a cat. Named Delia.
Even though I'm twenty, and should be having a nice life experience, I decided to become a maid.
A what?!
The job pays well, and I have an apartment nearby. I knew since he was old, and rich, the guy would probably be cranky.
And I was right.
His name is Mr. Venoci. He lives alone, with a fantastic fortune, in a mansion. His house was nice, and he seemed okay when I met him.
"Hi, I'm Emma, your new maid."
"Hi, you already know my name. Just clean everywhere, and don't forget the basement. Everywhere besides my room, that is." And he walked away. So I scrubbed, and dusted, and mopped, and wiped. My back ached, and my shoulders. I had cleaned the whole day, when I found the basement. It had a narrow door, and was plain wood. I sneezed, and knew there was lots of dust. There was only one room at the bottom of a rickety staircase, and when I walked in the other room, odor hit me. I used some air freshener, and I accidentally kicked over a bowl full of water. It was dark, but I found a light switch and pulled it down.
Then I found all of the cat stuff.
An animal carrier, the bowl I kicked over, some cat food, and a litter tray that was full and unkempt. There was a slant in the floor, so an old washing machine tilted. I heard the scatter of paws, and figured it was a cat. I stooped over the washing machine, and sure enough, there stood a mangy old cat with ruffled fur.
