This is the first draft of my poem "The Bear."
The Bear

Henry, the blue hair
My sweet, the bear
These needs, the saltine for lack of
Gone the blue hair and the bear
This key, the map and pen
Just we, the part we play in design
Upon us, we
The fountain in the place
Departed here
It’s me, the trollop and the whore
Don’t watch
If he’s in Montana
If he’s in Peru
On the mountain
He is the bold one
Sword of the patriot he sought
The mountain is, I see, furious
Dance the verse, dance the ballad
Dance the morbid turn
On the mountain of
I am
It, she says, what is it – the other violent bend in me
The other dead – what but violent I am
Bend in love
Condescend mine and me
Our nest has been
Not more to him I am
Goodbye
Took them away
She knows where we are in the suite of the others
Kill, why not me
He says there are others
At least I dance alone
Keep listening through me
Dance with me not the others
Is it close to being
Damned he is
To come to me
Escalate sweetly
Take them, my keys
I try and try to please
Appease the others with whom he’s been
He ate them to mind
Hope he wanted me to weigh
And beyond the mouth dies my mind
Beyond all of me I fear and the other I need too
