A kitten in the house.
There’s a button-cute new kitten roaming the house
and I say this because he de-buttoned the blouse
Carrie Ann wore when she bent to give Spot a pat
wherein Spot gnawed her blue button like a bad cat.

Then we watched with wide eyes as Spot whirr was the rage
when a riot of fur on a carpet of beige
made a cyclone of kitty cat talon and tail
in a feline performance of one impish male.

As a button went flying our Spot came un-taut
and as Carrie reached for him he remained uncaught
bolting like an electric surge to drapery
where he hung like he hoped all the neighbors would see.

O he clawed into fabric then with mild mew
made a tear in the drapes and then when he was through
pounced upon the end table with candy extant
knocking M&M pieces into potted plant.

It was a philodendron and chocolate scene
as a rambunctious Spot like a Mexican bean
jumped on the kitchen counter with amazing grace
and sent Folgers’ ground coffee all over the place.

I was up on my feet with the fall of a ground
as a red coffee can made a cling-clanging sound
while some quality time our fine family got
was achieved in pursuit of a button-cute Spot.

Carrie Ann thought she had him yet rude was her trip
as a quicksilver cat was four-legged catnip
and if capturing oil a comedy bit
then attempts to grab Spot was a rib-tickle skit.

Cogitating all options of kitten pursuit
in our plan to take hold of one fur ball so cute
as we all in the living room bandied each thought
‘round the edge of the wall peeked a precocious Spot.
