The Wizard's Choice

100 Words

         The magic flowed through his body as he created a beam of purple energy in his palm. There wasn't much in the room, just him and a fire place. It was definitely not a regular fireplace though. It glowed green instead of orange and small whispers could be heard coming from it. The portal to the demon world. Demons used it to get to the human world and take over individual souls. Now they were getting stronger and he needed to destroy their portal or everyone would be killed. He shot the beam, destroying everything that remained there. Including himself.

No Glamor In War

200 Words

         A war horn sounded in the distance, the signal that my squad was to attack the enemies left flank. We got up from our squatting positions and charged toward the battle ahead, giving our best battle cries. The battle had been going on for a couple hours and the soil was beginning to stain red with blood, at least the parts that were visible, for most places were littered with fallen warriors from both sides. I signed up for the military to protect my family and my country but I'd have joined the war anyway.

         My entire life I had dreamed of being a knight, riding into battle in gleaming armor and sword on a pure white stallion. But the reality is, there is no glamor in war. No white stallions, or shining Armour. Just death and lots of it. There is no glamor in watching your comrades die and wonder if you're next to go.

         This is what I realize as I appeared at the front of the battle, blood dripping from my sword and ragged clothes. All of this is going through my mind as my enemy plunged his sword straight through my chest.

Magic: The Clash of Two Powers

         The ground trembled as the dragon landed near where the wizard stood poised. The wizard stumbled from the might of the quake and looked up into the face of his opponent. Red hot magma dripped from it's maw, sizzling as it hit the earth. It stood tall, powerful, and majestic.

         The great dragon swiped its barbed tail at the wizard, forcing him to create a glowing force around himself. The dragons tail smashed the force, destroying the enchantment. The battle had begun.

         The wizard's eyes widened as he realized what had happened. His impenetrable force couldn't have broken. It was impossible.

         Recovering from his shock, the wizard produced a beam of pure energy and sent it at the dragon. The dragon tried to jump away from the beam but it's attempt was in vain. The bolt connected with the dragons leg. The dragon bellowed, the screech caused the wizard to collapse to his knees, covering his ears, shattering his heat protection enchantment. As it's leg began to knit itself up the dragon sent a wave of magma at the wizard. The wizard was too slow to cast another enchantment. The wizard had been defeated.
