A Vicious Cycle

It's a vicious cycle really
Strangers become friends
Friends become closer
Friends fight
Friends become strangers
Rinse and repeat.

Like it or not, it's bound to happen
Someone will snap
Rude words on a bad day
Snide remarks
Drifting apart
The list goes on.

Eventually someone will be ready to try again
But the other isn't willing
To make the effort
The other is left with the pain
Of knowing that the other
Simply doesn't care anymore.

Half the pain is missing someone
The other half is knowing
That they don't miss you back.
Days go by
Life goes on
The cycle repeats.
