                                       Discovering the source.

"Azure, it isn't a good idea"  said Mike.
"Don't stop!  Stealing is bad"  said Azure.  She is a bit out of breath.
"It is just an obsidian dagger!  You can make another one!"  said Mike.  He jump over a dead tree trunk.
"It isn't just an dagger."  said Azure.  She duck down under a big branch.  "No time for another one."
"Vetter do something.  They are fast ."  said Mike.  He have a displeased look.
"Ok,  I'll try." said  Azure.  Her  left hand become illuminated with a bright ball.  She throw the light toward the thieves.  It hit the ground, shaking it.  The thieves footing become unsure.  It did  not stopping them.
"Another idea, Mike?"
"Your shield spell, quick!"
Again, the left hand of Azure become illuminated with a bright ball.  She throw it in front of the two dark clothed thieves.  A glowing transparent diamond looking stone appeared.  The two thieves hit a wall.
"Yes! Knew it!" said Mike.  He have a big smile.
"Don't cry victory, Mike!  They're escaping" said Azure.
"Dammed!  They go away"  said Mike.
"Stop, Mike.  Need it" said Azure.  She was out of breath.
"If you want your homework, we have to follow them" said Mike.  Darkness was setting in slowly.  His dark hair seems to disappear into the night.  His blue eyes seems to turn grey.  He pointed toward a rocky wall.  A cave entrance was visible.  There was light inside.
"Yes, I want it badly.  Better go discreetly" said Azure.  Her brown hair were damp by the sweat.  They look more black than brown right now.
"Discreetly?"  said Mike.  He wasn't sure of the plan.
Azure didn't respond.  The light ball form in her hand.  She throw it between them.  Then, she take Mike's hand.  They run into the cave, going  into hiding behind a big crate near the entrance.
"See,  easy" whispered Azure.
"Let's have a look.  Why they need your dagger" said Mike.  He maintained the same tone.
"Look!  On the table!" said  Azure.  Her big smile said it all.
"A taste in magical weaponry" said Mike.  He look around, at the various filled case displays.
"Why?" said Azure.
"Oh, look!  Cabotino" said Mike. He nearly forgot he was hiding.

Cabotino is a famous thief.  He now seems to lead an army of thieves.
"Good news, guys!" said Cabotino.
"We have the dagger you wanted.  I just don't understand it" said one of the thief.
"I know the owner.  Her daggers are of the highest quality.  It will be useful against Salmacis."
"Salmacis!  The famous nymph of New Brociante!  You are crazy!" said  the thief.
"You are so ignorant!  The job will be quickly done with this dagger" said Cabotino.  He joined a explicit gesture over his throat with the dagger.

Mike become agitated.  "We have to prevent this!"
"Shhh!  This way" said Azure.  Saying that, she takes his hand.  With the other hand  on the wall, a soft glow appear.  Both pass through the rock.  They come to a smaller cave.  It have an entrance into the darkness.  There is a small sparkling pool.  A rocky rim encircle the shallow pool.
"Why come here?  We have to get out!" said Mike.  He wasn't smiling.  His eyes were penetrating hard.
"The cloaking spell is no longer effective.  We need another way out.  There are  some pure magic" said Azure.  She had a keen interest in the sparkling water.
"Your curiosity cost you!" said Mike.
"We stay too much already" said Azure.  Her eyes maintained those piercing eyes of Mike.
"How sweet!  I have to interrupt" said Cabotino.  He enter the pool's room.
"Don't move!  I can use magic!" said Azure, getting ready, her both hands starting to glow.
"Your poker's face don't impress us" said Cabotino.
"Your next spell more discreet, Azure" said Mike. He draw his sword, ready to enter battle.
"Both of you are fool" said Cabotino.  "You better be careful."


No one had the time to answer.  Azure throw both of her spell in front of Cabotino.
"An obsidian attack, how interesting" said Cabotino.  As the obsidian flakes puncture his flesh, his pain become visible under the irony of his voice.  He make a step forward, to grab Azure.  It was too late to go back.  He step into a teleport spell.  Cabotino got sucked into thin air.
The other two thieves enter the room.  Azure takes Mike by the arm and jump in the pool.  The pool get illuminated.  Azure and Mike got aspired into it.
"Where are we?" said Mike.
"We seems to be deeper in the ground" said Azure.
"How can we breathe?  There is this strange bluish light around us" said Mike.
"You are right.  It is pure magic.  I sense it is a underground pocket of magic" said Azure.  She was amazed by this discovery.  "This pocked seems to be linked to others.  I find difficult to determine the scope of all this.  It seems to be infinite!"
Azure and Mike look at each other and at the pool.
"This is why the pool have strange luminous sparkle!" .said Azure
"Is it dangerous?" said Mike.  He wasn't sure of himself. "It is possible to go to the Academy?".  He was wary.
"I can't say.  I feel a bit disoriented" said Azure.
"In that case, bring us outside" said Mike.
"Ok.  Come this way" said Azure.  She started to swim in one direction, going deeper

It was a bad idea.
"Azure!  You're going too fast!" said Mike.
"Not doing anything!  I don't swim" said Azure.  The magic current was strong.
The pressure of the place was taking it's toll on the couple.
"Azure, I'll help you" said Mike.
Mike swim toward Azure.
"Got your hand" said Mike.  "Better go up now!"
Azure touched the ceiling.  She put a spell to get on the rock.  No light come from her hard this time.  Azure didn't need to draw magic.  She simply took what surrounded her.
"I am happy to be on floor level!" said Mike.  He fall on his knee.
"I agree with you.  I feel drunk right now.  Too much magic isn't a good thing" said Azure.
"Let's go home.  I am tired" said Mike.
The magician's hand light up.  The light ball fall between the two.  They start to levitate.  Azure take the lead and direct them in the right direction.


The pool of the Academy of Magic.  Azure and Mike fall down in the deeper part.  They  get their head about water, gasping for air.
"You are crazy!" said Mike.  He look angrily at Azure.
"Landing isn't my thing" said Azure.

Some teachers comes to the pool, alarmed by the sound.
"You have to explain yourself, Azure."
"I think there is  underground system of magic, teacher" said Azure.
"Don't be silly.  Now, get out of the water" said the teacher.  Disapprobation was on his face.
"Did this dagger is yours, Azure?"  said another teacher.
Azure took the time to get out of the pool  She takes a brief look.  "Yes, this is mine."
"Better get it to a safer place.  Cabotino tried to stole it tonight.  You are lucky we caught him in the Academy."
"Thanks teacher" said Azure.  She felt relieved.  No one thought she left the academy tonight.
"Don't worry, Azure.  I thing you are on something with the underground magic" murmured Mike before quitting the Academy.
