Our Gift of Speech

I offer this simple poem as a commendation to the men and women of writing.com, who subscribe to the surpassing principles established in the Bible. It is an honor and a pleasure to associate with all of you.

Treasure each opportunity to talk.
Let our conversations up-build.
Favorable thoughts begin in our heart.
Loving concern for others will be fulfilled.

Our tongue is a two-edged sword.
Words can be misused and abused.
Tearing at the fragile heart.
Until pain and suffering has been diffused.

Consider talk that will impart,
Inspiration and encouragement to people we meet.
Convey thoughts that heal and restore.
May our words bring relief, may they be a loving treat.

Ephesians 4:29 describes what to do.
This principle teaches us God's ways.
When applied, our speech will be good and honest.
Jehovah we will praise; others hearts we will raise.
