A really twisted poem about being at peace with being in a small room with padded walls.

-A Room Without A View-

Four by eight
Retangulary squared
No light allowed
Only darkness spared
A room without a view
Not really a prison cell
But rather a safety vessel
Keeping me here
This madman inside
From hurting those
Beyond here
Outside
They would stand
Little to no chance
I would not kill them
I would only destroy them
There is quite a difference
I would make them suffer
In ways that I
Have become incapable of
I have no reasonable God
Not any that can be identified with
I have not an ounce of hope
And I possess no chance at peace
In me
Right inside my chest
Burned into this heart
Lives absolute madness
An all-consuming hatred
For myself and everyone else
To these derelictions I was born
Made by two careless fools
With no reason or purpose defined
After I came into being
After I proved I was different
They dropped me off here
They abandoned me to this place
Leaving me in their wake
They have never returned
Why would they ever
I of course have since remained
More defining has become my cage
Closer have crept these walls
Smaller everything has become
Except for the madness within
Such a thing could never be contained
Or lessened in any reasonable way
A room without a view
Reason, thus truth
Such a place, absolute
There will be no escape
Just more and more of the same
Just ever-increasing increments
Of unquantifiable rage
Once a day
A man dressed in white
Comes to my room
A small slot is all that stands
Between him and I
He stands just out of reach
He always says the same thing
Patient, number twenty-five
How are you feeling today
Never do I find the need to reply
I look into his hollowing eyes
I see nothing but a reflection of mine
He smiles his twisted smile
To me acknowledgement in kind
Upon the hatch, always sits
A toxic concoction of drugs
One blue, two reds, three blacks
And a small cup of just enough water
The man outside, the one
With the million mile stare
Points at the cup and says
Patient number twenty-five
Please take your medication
Comfortable with procedure
I never for a second hesitate
To do what he requires
Why would I ever
Such a question I won't answer
A room without a view
No definable windows
No operational door
Just four blank canvasses
Four empty walls
Four barriers built
And reinforced between them
And I...
