Contest Entry - Writing Prompt
My entry to the April 8 2014 "The Writer's CrampOpen in new Window.
Today's Prompt:
Write a story 1000 words or less or a poem 40 lines or less about a mysterious, anonymous letter and a missing key. Please bold these are two items when they first appear in the story or poem.

In Search Of A Key

Where in the world could it be
That elusive missing key.
I know I had it with me
Last weekend at the sea
In the pocket of my capri.
I also remember that we
Went for afternoon tea
Because it was after three.
We sat under a fruit tree
While the wind was gusty,
Blowing blossoms free,
Disturbing a honey bee.
Deciding we should flee
And go enjoy a movie,
Or maybe rent a dvd
On which me both agree.
You paid the entrance fee,
And I got popcorn and candy.
We sat high in the balcony,
Laughing at Crocodile Dundee.
Afterward we had coffee
You told me of an adoree
Who unseen had left thee
a mysterious, anonymous letter he
Found tucked on his  Ferrari
While parked by the jewelry.
"I think it was from you, Annie,"
As he slipped to one knee,
Pulling out a ring all sparkly,
"Who asked me to marry thee."
I smiled a little sheepishly,
And nodded yes, it was me.
Now, I remember this repartee,
But not where's the mailbox key.
