Short Essay
Once there was a tiny woodpecker named Maple. "Why did you name me Maple, mommy woodpecker?" asked Maple. "Because you were born in a Maple Tree." answered mommy woodpecker. "I must fly off to grab some dinner." "I wish I could fly." Said Maple, imagining herself being carried in the cool, crisp summer breeze. Flying with completely different, older, experienced birds of flight.

Then, she imagined her and her mother flying in the sky. The sky full of huge, metal, birds. The sky as blue as a robin's egg. As blue as blue jays come. A sky full of soft, white, pillows, filled with white feathers and cotton from the farms that felt as warm as the nest, buried in her mother's feathers. "Why, all the things I love most are contained in the sky, just waiting for me...
