Three siblings with different talents run an orphanage facing a different challenge each. |
Three of a kind In a time before you and me, in a land only known to a few there were three siblings who were left behind by their parents. Knowing he couldn't care for his younger siblings alone the eldest sibling searches for suitable caretakers until they are old enough. He places his younger brother in care of a band of hunters and his younger sister in care of a kind seamstress and her husband. The eldest sibling travel alone until he found a home with an old and wise healer. For many years they were taught by their new families a different trade until finally the eldest sibling returns for his younger brother and sister. The youngest brother became a fine hunter who spends his day out in the forests hunting rare and dangerous animals, the sister became a seamstress creating the most beautiful fabrics with elaborate designs, and the oldest brother became a brilliant healer with a vast knowledge of plants, minerals, and biology. With the three siblings reunited they traveled together until one night before they went to sleep they heard a rustle from a bush behind. The hunter prepares to strike but revealing himself was a small child alone and hungry. Feeling his pain they decided to bring him along and as they travel they recruited more children who were abandoned or lost until one day they arrived to an abandoned cottage on top of a hill and they all decided to settle there. With their new talents they resumed their daily lives day by day. In the morning the hunter would leave before daybreak and bring home plenty of meat and fur before dusk. The seamstress would spend all day weaving new clothing for the various children as well as blankets with the fabrics her brothers brought home for her. The doctor spends most of his day tending to the sick children and in between he would tend to his healing herb garden, cooking, and cleaning. Many of the children that reside with them have never been happier and the three would invite people from many towns to come to their orphanage to find homes for the growing number of children, but overall the children couldn't care less weather they stay or go. Meanwhile in a kingdom beyond the hills a king is in distress. A terrible monster has stolen cattle from the ranchers in his kingdom and none of his forces can stop it. In a desperate need he offers a reward that whoever slays the monster and brings it back would be rewarded with whatever they desire. One day an orphan meets with the king and tells him that one of his caretakers is the greatest hunter in the world. The king sends the orphan to fetch him and in the same day the hunter arrives before the king. The hunter hears of the king's dilemma and agrees to slay the monster and bring it back by day break tomorrow. The hunter place himself hidden in the trees that night and waits patiently until he saw a large and terrible creature with dagger teeth, four mammoth arms, scythe like claws, and demonic orange eyes. As the monster makes his grab for a nearby flock the hunter's trap sets off restraining the monster to the ground allowing the hunter to finish it off. By dawn the next morning the hunter returns while dragging along the monster behind him. The king is amazed to see such results that he was willing to give the hunter anything but the hunter asks for a powerful weapon that is able to kill even the mightiest creature. In return he gives the hunter a golden boy that is capable of killing the most ferocious of monsters with just three shots. The hunter thanks him for his reward and returns to the orphanage to share his good fortune. Shortly afterwards the king is faced with another dilemma. His wife demands for a perfect gown suitable for a queen to wear for an upcoming ball. The king sends out for the finest tailors and seamstress in the world to create their greatest work but none of them satisfies the queen. As the kings looks down with sadness a little orphan girl in a dress of gold and purple catches the king's attention and he summons her into his castle. The girls explains that the dress was made by her caretaker who has fabricated the greatest clothing fit for royalty and at that the king demands that she is brought before him. The seamstress was brought before the king along with the little girl as he explains the challenge for her to create the perfect dress. She accepts the king's challenge but she requires just one night to complete the dress and it will be done by morning. Throughout the night the seamstress and the girl worked using of her finest fabrics from her collection. Just before the sun rises the seamstress requests that the queen dons the dress and steps outside right away along with the king and his servants. The king obeys and everybody was assembled outside in the courtyard. The dress the queen wore was bland, plain, and grey which makes the queen furious but the seamstress reassured her the perfect dress is yet to come and at that moment when the sun peaks from the horizon the light hits the dress and in an instant the dress was decorated with an elaborate design of colors while shining as the stars. Everybody at the courtyard applauds for it is by far the most wonderful dress ever fabricated. The king jumps for joy and asks what the seamstress would want in return. She requests for a new fabric that is never-ending and capable of changing colors as a rainbow. Right away he gives her a magic roll of enchanted silk that will never end, flashes any color, and resistant to tears and rips. The seamstress accepts her gift and together she and the orphan returns home to create new clothing for their family. It wasn't long after that before a disaster hits the kingdom and a tragedy occurs. His daughter became gravely ill and is on the verge of death. Immediately the king summons as many doctors and healers in the world, but none of them could save the dying princess. Word has spread across the land for whoever can save his daughter would have his kingdom. Both the hunter and the seamstress have heard of this news and right away they return to the castle along with the doctor and the group of orphans living with them. They all claim that he is the greatest healer and that he can save her as he has the faintest of children. The doctor studies the princess' conditions and promises to save her but in order to do it he would need his brother to obtain the blood of a three headed dragon in order to complete the remedy. He also asks for his sister to use her never-ending fabric to construct a quilt to wrap around until their brother's return and she began at that instant. The hunter travels to an island that is said to be the home of a three headed dragon but when he came ashore the dragon emerges from his lair and began his rampage on the island. The hunter remains hidden until he found the opportunity to strike the first blow with his golden bow taking out one head. He repeated this for the second head leaving the dragon grounded but now twice as furious. He roars and claws the area trying to finish the hunter however the hunter slips under the dragon climbs his back and with one final shot ended the final head of the dragon. He collects the blood and returns to the castle to aid his older brother in completing the remedy. The seamstress works all day until she created a quilt of every color seen and known. She wraps the quilt around the princess and she along with the orphans watched as the colors glisten beneath her peaceful face. The hunter returns at daybreak giving the blood to his brother and he began working for three days straight. He boils the blood until it was as thick as paste while adding a bushel of four leaf clovers, a pinch of swamp moss, the egg of an unhatched platypus, wings of a butterfly, and a tablespoon of chocolate. Once it became thick he places the concoction in a needle to leave outside on a full moon until dawn and he injects the formula into the princesses' body. They waited for about six days never leaving her side until on the seventh day she awoke in the morning with her color returned and a cheerful smile on her face. Everybody was jumping for joy and full of excitement to see her well again but not as much as the princess herself. The king thanks the doctor with great gratitude to see his daughter alive and well and offers him his kingdom for a reward but the doctor refuses however he accepts for the princess to become his bride. After their marriage everybody returns to the orphanage on the hill and life resumes as they left off. The tales of their talents have spread across the world and people from all around have traveled to see them. Many of these people are royalty who seek their talents and they accepted without hesitation but many of them have come to adopt the children, even the king has adopted the orphan boy and girl who introduced them to him that will eventually become the new rulers. It was hard for the siblings to see their extended family leave but they receive letters describing their new lives with their families while other children return to learn the trade of their skills while bringing other unfortunate children to their new home. There has never been a more cheerful family and it all started with three of a kind. |
