Rainbow Wishes

The child wishes for a rainbow
For storms to pass, for sun to shine
But with lightning the sky does glow

Keeper of Storms doth bestow
Rain gushing fast as river Rhein*
The child wishes for a rainbow

Souls flee danger from this tableau
Praying to the heavens for a sign
But with lightning the sky does glow

The spectacle began long ago
A force of nature so divine
The child wishes for a rainbow

How the little ones yearn to forego
Too young to witness acts so malign
But with lightning the sky does glow

Ode to the Keeper of Storms' show
In this nightmare the souls entwine
The child wishes for a rainbow
But with lightning the sky does glow

* a major European river carrying more traffic than any other river in the world; flows into the North Sea
