Fourteen pelicans walk down the middle of a city street. Write the STORY or POEM from there.
Required Genre: Western
Sittin' on a rocker outside the genr'l store,
Smokin' a stogie with a cup of brandy;
There appeared a sight not to ignore
On a day too hot to be dandy.
Out on the city street,
Amid street cars and trolleys,
Rolling dust from horse hoof beats,
And gambling men's folleys,
Strolled fourteen pelicans,
Wearing pin-striped suits,
Relevant among the elegance,
But hot in knee high boots.
Fourteen pelicans walk,
Unnoticed by the traffic,
Passing them on the block;
Photographic.
I decide to follow the congregation.
I drop the cigar and drink
And take part of the formation,
Meandering in the city stink,
Up Main Street and an alley,
Under the drying sheets
Of the rude old lady Sally,
But we're out of the streets.
Ahead is Cheap Jim's Bar,
And they head right inside
With me behind, not too far;
I come alongside;
"A beer for one who followed"
I nod in appreciation,
Took the glass, swallowed,
And out went the congregation.
