There
She is
Just a kiss
As much
I miss
She
A significant stranger
Such a wanting danger
Living someplace else
Residing in another life
As I remain right here
In ever deepening anger
I should move on
I could find another
But I won’t
The stages of such grief
Ridiculous they may be
When the person
So grievously grieving
Remains in a step longer
Than should be expected
There she is
My former love
No longer bound
By her words
Or mine
To God
We swore allegiance
To each other
We confessed
A hindrance
Death
Didn’t do us part
Life did
She moved on
I remained
Frozen in position
These images
Our memories
Are all that I have
All that remains
She is gone
Moved along
She loves another
Or so she says
I love no one
How could I
Once is all for me
There can never be
A second go around
My perilous heart
Saw the light
However so brief
And now
It has returned
Deep into the recesses
Of my darkened chest
Into the chaotic
Blackness of my soul
It will never again know
Nor do I want it to
Even if she returned
Even if she came back
I’m not sure
That I could again love her
As I so deeply do
Behind my lips for you
Are the words
That I can’t say
There they will remain
They will never escape
Just like the pain I feel
Over knowing
That what we had
Can never be again
When I die
When she expires
We may see each other
Maybe in Heaven
Maybe in hell
After such an altercation
We may be forced
By the will of God
To again find ourselves
He might compel us
To keep the promise
That we both made
He just might do that
Or even more
I never broke mine
Nor do I intend to
Behind my lips for you
Waits what has always been
What I have always meant
Sure I’m still mad
Sure my faith is shaken
Time is what it will take
But even then I’m not sure
That time will be enough
I know and understand
I’m prepared to face
All that has been broken
Dare I say, by you…
