The Butterfly

I saw a dead Butterfly today!
Golden wings spread wide…
Black velvet trimmed on the sides,
Is it a sign of the times?

I saw a dead Butterfly today!
Laid flat on his back… Wings still intact…
Wonder if he felt the impact!

I saw a dead Butterfly today!!
Is it an Omen for me…
That since he can no longer flee…
Maybe it’s the same way for me!!

I saw a dead Butterfly today!!
It brought tears to my eyes…
Made me just want to cry…
That he could no longer fly!! 

I saw a Pretty Dead Butterfly today!!!
Was it a sign also for us all…
That if a Butterfly can Fall…
That neither can we still stand tall?

I saw a dead Butterfly today!
Golden wings spread wide…
Black velvet trimmed on the sides...
No longer able to let the world inside!!

I saw a dead Butterfly today…. And it hurt!!
