Eros Caroline Scott My names is Eros. You probably know me as Cupid, the god of love. I have been told that I am mischievous. I work for Aphrodite and I'm supposed to be her best friend but sometimes it feels like I'm more of her minion. I have been told I look like Elvis Presley, but I think he looked more like me. Before you say anything about my job, how it's the easiest job in the world, how it can't be that hard. Trust me shooting arrows at people to make them fall in love is harder than you think. Let's take all the couples of history I've helped out over the ages shall we. Romeo and Juliet. I knew a perfect star-crossed couple when I saw one. So that night I slipped into Lord Capulet's ball with the rest of the Montagues and as soon as Juliet and Romeo met eyes, wham! The arrows were shot. They shared a controversial kiss. I smirked to myself think this would be perfect. Their families would stop feuding and everything would be how it was supposed to be. But of course it didn't. That airhead, Tybalt, just had to declare that he would fight Romeo. Mercutio (a repeated client of mine) got killed and Tybalt in turn got killed. Romeo flees, Juliet is heartbroken, fakes her death, Romeo comes back, thinks she's really dead, he takes poison and dies, and Juliet in turn kills herself. No one lives happily ever after their two stupid families finally end the feud. Lancelot and Guinevere. A lovely couple I made if I had ever made one. I kind of forgot one little thing though. Guinevere was already married. To Arthur. The king. Who could have Lancelot killed on sight. Of course one night, Mordred just had to discover them and get Guinevere sentenced to burn to death. But Lancelot saved her! But the two ended up going their separate ways, Lancelot becoming a hermit and Guinevere a nun. Like I said being the God of love is never easy. Don't even get me started on what happened with Orpheus and Eurydice. So next time you call on me to help you with a love, think about the consequences Note form the author: This has been one of my favorite stories to right. Greek and Roman mythology has always interested me and it was fun writing this piece for the What a Character Contest. |
