A Blade of Grass
I dreamed I was a blade of grass,
graceful in it's play.
Gently moving back and forth
in syncopated sway.
So silently I lived my life,
sun and rain, day to night,
standing straight and reaching high
into the morning light.
Then the night was closing in,
harsh winds had settled down,
softer breezes I would feel
drifting all around.
It's silky breath and gentle wisps
caressed me in my place,
serenely calm and comforting
then gone without a trace.
I may not stand so tall again
or reach into tomorrow,
I knew at last I'd found my peace
twas in the wind I'd follow.
