A girl tweets her favorite celebrity for a follow but doesn't expect him to respond back.

Bzz bzz...bzz bzz went my phone as I looked at it for the tenth time. Another tweet pops up on my timeline about the same topic. When is he going to come online? Not that he'd ever notice me, but it's worth a shot. I've been trying for years to get his follow, and though I felt I would never get it, I also shouldn't give up. My phone vibrated once again, signaling he has come on. I was surprised to find him not tweeting about his new album as always, but mentioning how bored he is at the moment. I typed back a quick 'you could follow me', automatically assuming he would never see it through the thousands of spams his other 20 million followers are sending him. I closed out of the app with a big heaving sigh, and locked my phone. I know he's not going to see it, so I minus well just abandon the fantasy now.

I decided to get out of my tiny, shabby apartment to be productive and get some fresh air. Looking in the mirror at my pale skin and messy hair, I didn’t have the effort to look presentable. So I grabbed a jacket and slipped on my shoes, grabbed my keys, locking my door behind me and exiting the building. While walking down the sidewalk, I couldn't help but imagine him actually seeing my message and responding to it. I shook off the silly thought and laughed at how pathetic I can be, thinking he actually cares for what I have to say. To take my mind off of things, I entered a small coffee shop next to where I was standing on the sidewalk. I took a seat at a small table and ordered a cup of raspberry tea. As I sat there, my mind wandered back to what I said earlier to my idol. I must have been too deep in thought, because the waitress brought back my beverage. Sitting there, sipping the drink and contemplating whether or not I should erase the tweet, I decided to just keep it. He’s not going to see it anyways and even if he does, he won’t react to it, but more like ignore it. I felt my phone buzz more in my purse but I didn't have the energy to check it. I then came to the conclusion that it’s my time to head home. Walking up to the counter to pay and leave, I turned around and saw some friends of mine sitting at a table, holding a small conversation. As I was striding by, they all noticed me and shouted in unison "Congratulations!" I think they noticed my confusion, because my closest friend, Annie, spoke up "Why do you look so puzzled, Rowan? It finally happened!"
"What do you mean?"
"What do you mean what do I mean?"
"You said it finally happened. I have no clue what you're referring to."
"Oh...have you not checked your phone in the past hour or so?”
“No…not really, more like avoiding it, to tell you the truth.”
“Just look, that’s all I have to say," she stammers, then mimics her lips being zipped. I felt so discombobulated as to what was happening. I walked off, fishing my phone out of my shoulder bag. My heart beat quickening as I checked my notifications, the Twitter app opening up reluctantly. I almost dropped my phone, my heart stopping in the process of viewing what the good news was. Although I couldn't tell what was going on due to my slow phone freezing. Everything became a blur from the tears forming in my eyes when I saw his name pop up on my followed you list. Right as my hopes were raised, they fell when it turned out to be a fan account. A few moments my phone buzzed again, but I didn't want to look to only be disappointed again. For some strange reason though, his name popped up once more , but this time it was the real deal. Just when I thought I had lost all hope, it came back in the words of “This user is now following you!” and a verified check mark.
