How I achieved every dream I ever had. |
When I grow up, I want to be… A policeman An astronaut A teacher A chef A pastor An artist A scientist An adventurer An architect An inventor Throughout my life, I ran these, and dozens of other, dream occupations through my imagination. I truly could be anything I wanted to be. There were no limits for me. If I wanted to cross the desert with a team of crusaders, I knew I could. If I wanted to be a corporate powerhouse making decisions that would affect hundreds of people, what was to stop me? And then I grew up. I changed my mind as often as I changed shoes. Still, the dreams never died. Now, sitting here in real life, I’m a Christian, a husband, a father, a friend and a business owner. Some of these titles carry more weight than others. Some have multiple jobs associated with them. However, none of them are all inclusive of everything I wanted to be as a child. Still, I have fulfilled every dream I ever had. Because I am a writer. I can weave magic, build worlds, control empires and invent anything I desire. I can be the hand that guides a ship through a storm, or speak any language I choose. Writing is how my dreams are fulfilled. That one element of my life, no matter how the tides of reality may turn, is fully within my control. Everything I ever wanted to be, and everything I ever wanted to do, can come to fruition in the words I string together. I thank God for this gift I’ve been given. Few others can say that they’ve achieved every dream they ever had, or ever will have. That is why I write. |
