Animal is
Animal was
All are beast
All are creatures
Kill or be killed
Eat or starve
Live or die
Nothing between
Life as it may seem
Not to be believed
Transidentifiable
A made up term
An amalgamation
Of individual words
To make a point
To poke you in the rib
To get you to ask
A deeper preponderance
Of what if?
Are we humans
Are we animals
Or are we as always
Someplace between
Based upon need
Based upon survival
I’ve seen people
Ones deemed reasonable
Become unhinged
Become more creature
Than any that lives
In the deepest
Darkest of woods
When an animal
Is cornered
Put in a place
Of greater resistance
Threatened with
Annihilation
That animal
That being
Will become lessor
Of who they are
And more of
What they are not
Change is a catalyst
But so is the fear of
Such change
We all want
What we have
We all wish
To protect
What is ours
We will kill
If need be
We will destroy
If deemed necessary
Transidentifiable
To me it means
That in our
Darkest time of need
We will be
What we need to be
What is required
To ensure survivability
We will become lesser
In one way
And greater
In every other
We will stand up
To defend
What we deem as ours
Greatly hurting those who
Dare challenge us
And the ways in which
We feel life should be
All across nature
In every realm
In all spectrums
Life is fragile
Coexistence is mired
Deep within a balance
That we as human beings
Are incapable of seeing
As anything less
Than a novelty
And as anything more
Than a hindrance
We are without question
The only species
That cares for life
Exceedingly less
Transidentifiable
In the name of ourselves
And all they we wish
To hold and protect
We would destroy
Lay waste
Obliterate
Everything and anyone
In the name of ourselves
And our own interest
Will always do what it takes
No matter what…
