Friends are other than you want them to be.
Pause,
Breathe deeply.
The air still gives all it has.
Your lungs take all they need.
Just as do friends.
Sometimes,
Air is all they need.
Light may guide their way.
Perhaps return, perhaps not.
Be as only they can be.
As you are and as you can be.
