In them
No one shares
Alone are my fears
They are as real
As any can be
Created by me
Kept alive
By the same
As good as it is
As bad as it seems
No matter the space
No matter the time
They are still there
My closest of friends
They won’t fail
They won’t let me go
They are holding on
Their claws are sunk deep
No matter what
Through all the ups
And every damn down
Continually
They remain
Staying true
They let me know
Remind me daily
Of who I am
Even if and when
I’m trying to be
Anything but me
Alone are my fears
No one loves them
No one needs them
No one wishes for them
But they are there
Are sure anything else
They are the foundation
That every mountain
Has ever been built upon
They are the core of my soul
The heart of every matter
In time I know they’ll kill me
In time they’ll cause my end
By these hands
Of through these ideas
They will ultimately win
Claiming me for themselves
And the darkness they serve
Alone are my fears
I wish it could be different
But certainly it can not
As good as life seems
As much as I wanna dream
There are always nightmares
Rattling around in my head
Hiding inside my chest
Waiting to remind me
Wanting to set me in my place
Always it seems that I
Have been meant to pay
Someday I will…
