Broken Angel

You were it
The one who accepted me
Who put the tiny pieces back
Made me not feel like a freak

A damned, fallen angel
Feeling other’s pain and happiness
Wings broken and bleeding
Engulfed by the suffering

Then you broke me
Again, shattered beyond repair
My heart and soul rendered
Alone, I drowned in blackness

All-consuming rage and sadness
Never ending screaming nightmare
Lost in a sea of questions
Stranded without the answers

Then you smiled at me
Even though it tore me up
It gave me hope
Hope that maybe my wings could be repaired

We talked and we cried
Now more confused and conflicted
I want you to be my everything again
Yet I am frozen in fear

Do not hurt me again
Be that light in the never ending darkness
Just don’t take it away again
Don’t leave this broken angel alone in the dark
