a poem written while travelling. |
For the life of me, I can't remember all that came before, behind and beyond the original thought that led to this link in the chain and to be outside the chains of time For the life of me, I can't remember if I met you before in a dream I was having one night, in this life or another and I keep thinking 'when did I watch this scene unfold before?' For the life of me, I can't remember how it feels when the shields are down and it's all happening, and I know it it's oozing out of every pore in the walls and it's electrifying everything I've been there before, but for the life of me, I can't remember how it felt to be a new life freshly sparked by the almighty holder of the flame and magnetising to this world For the life of me, I can't remember the clarity the absence of fear the silence that roared with everything I believe it once flowed like a river right through this place, but for the life of me, I can't remember what I haven't been taught this time the other points of view like a sky full of pinholes For the life of me, I can't remember my old friend Death For the life of me, I can't remember so I blow that horn and I buy into this crazy trip called 'late for work' For the life of me, I can't remember that I should know better I'm said to be some 13 billion years old For the life of me, I can't remember my equilibrium I seem to be standing on one foot something caught me off-guard For the life of me, I can't remember why I chose this moment to meet you here when I've been dreaming it forever For the life of me, I can't remember it was all meant to be- the slap in the face and the loving embrace For the life of me, I can't remember I just have to act like I know it all and I've got it all down pat I know it once had real meaning, but for the life of me, I can't remember the instant the other the ether the infinity beyond 'either/or' the yet-to-be-born and the never-before and what more, you ask? what more? what more?! well, you know it's a funny thing For the life of me, I can't remember. |
