Though the day was chilly and rain threatened, the Festival still had a great turn out. |

No Restrictions | September 13 Prompt: ▶︎
Prompt for: Sept 13, 2015 (Ren)
Subject or Theme: FREE DAY (almost) I am mentally and emotionally spent. Remember the Sept 9th prompt? Well I'm literally exhausted with worry over Phoebe. I cry several times a day. I revel in her triumphs and my heart aches for the StoryFamily. I'm not getting enough rest and my migraines are getting worse. I need a day to recoup my own energy. Even my son is distressed over this situation.
Word(s) to Include: (none) (or any derivatives of these words)
Forbidden Word(s): (none) (or any derivatives of these words)
Additional Parameters: Please do not write about anything sad, I don't think I could bear it. Write happy poems or about nature or about your cat or dog or about a clown or a holiday, just nothing sad.
Remember, do not use forbidden words ANYWHERE, including title or the brief description.
I had a really hideous, extremely short poem somewhere and now I cannot find it, but then I've been up for 2.5 hours doing things for Phoebe and am about to fall asleep. I think we could all use some upbeat fun poem today with no restrictions. Let your mind find that happy place. Mine needs to find sleep! I'll check in later today.
Eden Mills Writer's Festival
Though weather cold
And rain spattering at times
Throughout the day
The crowds came and listened
As authors raised their voices
And read to chase away
What could have been
A miserable day
Smiles and laughter
Writer’s and bookies
Of all sorts
Drew together to share
Literary delights
That warmed our hearts
And our minds
Buying books is never a sad thing
Getting them signed
And talking to the authors
Is quite a glad thing.
Here’s to another successful
Eden Mills Writer’s Festival
I know I will be going
Back next year
But for now
I will read my new books
And cheer
I am so happy
That I live here
Where authors gather
To read and share.
Each September
I will never fear
The festival will
Be back next year.
34 lines.
Author's note: Not sure if this is really a happy poem, but I had an amazing day and wanted to share. I bundled up in layers and was really quite fine. The Eden Mills Writer's Festival has just celebrated its 28th year! It was founded by Leon Rooke. Here's a bit of its story...
