The Forgotten One

Two tiny babies, born before they were due,
A boy and a girl, with a bond so true

The parents would visit, but only with one
They hardly would look, at their only son

They simply pretended, he wasn't there
They never gave him, any love or care

When they were gone, I would sneak by,
Comforting the baby, that they left to cry

I watched these babies, struggle and fight,
Day after day, and night after night

Then one day, the little girl passed away
Leaving her brother, alone here to stay

Left in his bed, to survive on his own
His future is now, so very unknown

Doctors and nurses, are all that he knows,
Everyone around him, prays as he grows

They left him there, while they ran away
They only wanted a girl, is all that they say

He will get a new family, filled with love and joy
A family that hoped, for a sweet little boy

He will grow up, being cared for with love
He'll be their gift, sent from above
