There is a place that no one else can find
Somewhere so far away in which to hide
From this world and all of its many pains
A place where nobody can call my name
There are no streets, no cars, or any planes
No buildings or signs, no trucks or trains
No other, within this escape, resides
No one but me and this Shadow of mine
I cannot hide among the trees
It smells my fear blown in the breeze
No use trying to run away
Shadows roam free when night takes day
The darkness finds and surrounds me
Nowhere to run, nowhere to flee
Now I take life's last raspy breath
And welcome my good old friend death
But suddenly the light breaks me free
And for once I can say I'm happy
Because I found the one to call mine
Now I can share this place in my mind
But it is not gone, this shadow of mine
It does still haunt my dreams from time to time
But when I awake I know I will find
Her lying beside me, for peace of mind
