My Entry - we write for kids contest |
Celebrate the Dead by: DW I am so excited about tonight because it's the scariest night all year. Halloween!! I jump out of my bed and ran out the front door to get the morning paper for my dad. As I leaned over to pick it up I noticed in the bush next to where the paper landed, the suns brilliant rays twinkling through the morning dew on a spiders web. It has a caterpillar caught up in the center all wrapped up like a mummy. The spider must be saving it for its dinner soon. I thought to myself, poor caterpillar. Now it will never have a chance to become a beautiful butterfly, but at least the spider gets to eat. I was eager to check tonight's weather report. On the bottom of the front page is a section just for the weather. It says; it is going to be a perfect night for the ghosts and witches to come out for the festivities. There will be a cool breeze in the air all day and by the evening it will turn chilly with a bright Full Moon for celebrations. So before the ghosts, ghouls and goblins begin lurking about, and the witches come flying around, be careful where you step. It may be a yelp, coming from the underground. And remember to keep your dearest pets inside for the night. You wouldn't want a lost kitten or puppy to become missing by mornings light. "Have a Good Night and Celebrate The Dead." |
