Patiently Waiting

Every morning you hurriedly walk out the door
for many hours I anxiously await your return
It feels like an eternity and you're never coming home
Your absense makes my big doggie heart hurt

I guard the forbidding door that separates our worlds
I protect and serve your mighty castle too
But really, mostly I'm patienlty waiting
For the first magnificent, glorious glimpse of you

I get so excited when I see your car
I practically turn myself inside out
My exuberant heart leaps a thousand times
"You're home!" there is no more doubt

I listen for the sound of your fumbling keys in the door
And when it flies open I'm one hundred percent there
Your unconditional trusty friend, your most loyal companion
I just happen to come with a wiggle butt and covered with hair.

The reuninion is sweet, I can tell for you too
As you hug and kiss me and tell me about your day
We go outside together and I find my most prized ball
And now, it's about to go down. It's time to PLAY!
