The Picture

A picture of a person
We’ve long since forgotten
The corners are frayed
And the edges are rotten.
The paper’s discoloured
And the smile has faded
Yet the look inside his eyes
Feels totally updated.

Looking closer at this picture
We see beyond the frame
We see all that was wasted
Not fit to be part of the game.
You look into the eyes
And you see the sparks, entrancing
It fills you with such feeling
You’ve almost started dancing.

For upon seeing said picture
A thought enters your head
It floods your mind with actions
And every word you never said.
It reminds you, does this picture
That even through all time
True friendship lasts forever
And I’m thrilled you’re one of mine.
