One obliterates the other;
the other smothers unforgivingly.
Each intrinsic to the other;
a symbiotic relationship.

An exploitation of shutter flash
exposes, defines, sharpens
refractions bounced off lens
to paper.

Stark: dance of shadow
as perspectives shift.
Without the white beam,
the iridescent glow,
there is nothing:
an absence of life
for it is swallowed
in unyielding murk:
the bottomless oubliette
suffocates spark, extinguishes
both question and answer.

Tone, variance cannot
be manipulated
without illumination.
Captured moment
underexposed,
overexposes fears.

Balance in all things
brings life into focus.
